The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially invited online applications for the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for the June 2026 session. This examination is a gateway for Indian nationals to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for recruitment as Assistant Professors / Lectureship (LS) in various universities and colleges across India. The subjects included in this session are Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

Exam Overview and Eligibility

Candidates with a Master's degree (M.Sc) or an equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PH) are eligible to apply. Notably, candidates from Integrated courses, B.E/B.Tech, B.Pharma, and MBBS backgrounds are also permitted to sit for the exam. The age limit for JRF is capped at 30 years, while there is no upper age limit for the Lectureship/Assistant Professor post.

Application Process

The online registration window opens on 27th May 2026 and remains active until 19th June 2026. Interested applicants must complete the fee payment by 20th June 2026. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on the 17th and 18th of July 2026. Candidates are advised to prepare their scanned documents, including photographs and signatures, according to the specified dimensions before starting the application process.
