The Department of Post, India Post, has officially released the India Post GDS 2nd Merit List 2026 for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions. This massive recruitment drive aimed to fill a total of 28,636 vacancies across various postal circles in India. The application process, which was held between January 31, 2026, and February 14, 2026, saw millions of aspirants competing for roles such as Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak.

Selection Process Overview

Unlike many government jobs, the India Post GDS recruitment is unique because it does not involve a written examination. Selection is strictly based on a merit-based system derived from the marks obtained in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination). Shortlisted candidates must now proceed to the Document Verification (DV) stage. During this phase, applicants are required to present original certificates including marksheet, caste certificate, and identity proof at the designated divisional head.

Circle-Wise Vacancy and Result

The 2nd Merit List covers all major states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and more. Candidates can download the PDF for their respective circles and search for their registration number using 'Ctrl+F'. It is mandatory for candidates to have proficiency in the local language of the circle they applied for. Failure to provide valid documentation during verification will lead to immediate disqualification from the selection process.
